Participants will work with the Banff Centre Staging team on all Banff Centre productions, presentations, conferences, and outreach programs. Responsibilities may include interpreting and generating technical information, loading shows in and out, working the shows, rigging, selecting and operating tools, and operating and maintaining stage equipment.
What does the program offer?
This season includes supporting Banff Centre’s Musicians in Residence program, the Banff Mountain Film Festival, a Youth Orchestra Symposium, a Christmas concert, Banff Centre’s Puppet Workshop, a Banff Centre ballet residency, Banff Centre’s Singer-Songwriter residency, as well as numerous bands, family shows, and events that are part of our presenting series. On top of these programmed events there is an opportunity to work with any number of Performing Arts residency programs, which can include anything from theatre and music to exploring projections, recordings, and dance.
In addition the Staging department is working to bring specialized workshops to the practicum program based on the learning objectives of the selected participants.
The practicum program is centered around learning the core skills required to be a staging technician. The mentors use Competency Based Training methods to ensure participants are ready to be technicians in their field.
