This three-week program brings together emerging artists from around the world to work and study with brilliant, seasoned, award winning instructors. The goal is to learn, converse, build, experiment, refine, and transform—to reimagine the state of the art. The program is one of the most intensive that Banff Centre offers and continues our 40-year history of incredible Jazz exploration.
What does the program offer?
This program is designed to help emerging musicians become performers/composers of consequence in the world with an emphasis on community and collaboration.
There is a major recording component to the residency and two weeks of sessions spent in our world class studio with renowned faculty engineers and producers.
A personal studio space to work from is provided and available 24 hours a day. Production spaces are shared among all participants in the residency. Scholarship is available.
Who should apply?
Open to applicants worldwide, this residency is a call for artists and composers that have an established practice. Artists should have produced an independent body of work, and received recognition through public presentation in performance or recordings, and from their peers.
When applying, choose between staying in a single or a shared bedroom on the Banff Centre campus for the duration of your program.
Get connected with other artists on campus and focus on your projects in a creative environment while we take care of the day-to-day essentials.
Using a credit-based system to dine on campus, our flexible meal plans allow you to select meals according to your own needs during your stay.
The Regular Flex meal plan includes $29 credit per day, equivalent to lunch and dinner in Vistas Dining Room.
This program offers opportunities to showcase your work in one of our performance venues.
Access a wide range of publications, books, music and films in the Paul D. Fleck Library and Archives, open six days a week.
Enjoy special artist rates for ticketed performances or complimentary access to events.
