These Powerful Dancers Were Inspired by Mountains

The idea that there is a ‘spine’ to our continent is an Indigenous concept as old as living memory. Backbone, a contemporary Indigenous dance creation, is inspired by the rocky mountainous spine of the Americas, and performed by dancers from Canada, the United States, New Zealand and Mongolia. Watch them perform powerful, stripped-down moments from the production.

Backbone is co-produced by Banff Centre and Red Sky Performance. Original commission by Banff Centre.
